26 May 2009 - 15:35“Teaching Deep without Teaching Hard”

Visit the new website of our partner in Uganda, Ambrose Kikuuba.

Ambrose Kibuuka has been working with educationists and students at variuos levels, helping them to develop tools and insights for thinking outside-the-box, as a means of improving the quality of educational outcomes. It is clear that most educational practices are focused on producing examination passers, without necessarilly meeting the personal empowerment needs of the learners. The insights Ambrose raises in his articles and book  capture the imagination of African and no African teachers and students.

The articles published in his website will help individual teachers and educational institutions to explore innovative ways of providing authentic education.

On his article Teaching Deep without Teaching Hard, Ambrose explores learner-centered teaching methods and calls them “Teaching Deep” as opposed to Teaching Hard, which he describes as “reducing human beings to merely rote-learning creatures”!
